The JBL Pulse 4 is an unusually compact and lightweight portable speaker. It has a transparent plastic cover and programmable RGB lights around the speaker’s body. Although it lacks low-bass and sometimes sound a touch dark, it boasts a well-balanced mid-range that can faithfully capture vocals and lead instruments. Its excellent directivity and wide, open soundstage are the product of its all-encompassing architecture. Even though we don’t undertake water tests at the moment, it has a water resistance rating of IPX7. There is no support for voice assistants, which is a major drawback.
It’s fair to take the JBL Pulse 4 outside. It’s built to last and water-resistant to an IPX7 standard, though we don’t check that at the moment. The battery life is over 11 hours, making it portable and convenient. It’s not extremely loud, but there’s not much compression even when turned up to eleven. It has to downmix stereo content into mono, which makes it less immersive, and it lacks low-bass.

Designed to be placed on its side, the JBL Pulse 4 is a cylindrical speaker. Its transparent shell is a distinguishing feature of both its available hues. There are RGB lights all around the speaker that can be adjusted with buttons or an app.
Portability
The JBL Pulse 4 is a lightweight and compact speaker. It’s portable, requiring only one hand, thanks to its compact size and light weight. Since it runs on batteries, you won’t even need to worry about finding an electrical socket while taking it outside.
Build Quality
JBL Pulse 4’s construction is satisfactory. The speaker is made of sturdy plastic that looks and feels like glass. It is, however, fingerprint magnet, therefore regular wiping may be required. FAQ
Is JBL Pulse 4 worth it?
Although previous iterations of JBL’s Pulse Bluetooth speakers came off as goofy, the current Pulse 4 is a serious upgrade. Despite its hefty asking price of $199.95, this Bluetooth speaker impresses with a surprisingly robust audio output for its size and a new and updated LED light show that verges on being hypnotic.
Does JBL Pulse 4 have bass?
It has little low-bass and its treble range is slightly underemphasized, thus it may sound flat at greater volumes. When compared to the JBL Pulse 4, the JBL Charge 5 is the superior speaker.
Can the JBL Pulse 4 go underwater?
In addition to being entirely waterproof to an IPX7 standard, the speaker is also buoyant. Although you probably shouldn’t listen to music while submerged (it won’t sound very good), it’s nice to know that your device won’t be damaged if you happen to drop it in the toilet or accidentally submerge it in water.
